Ups and downs | April 24, 2008
The motivation is not stable it goes up and then goes down. Logical. It’s another mathematical sine wave.
In Pixar’s short cartoon Boundin’, the Jackalope inspires the sheep with these words;
Now sometimes you’re up and sometimes you’re down,
When you find that you’re down well just look around:
You still got a body, good legs and fine feet,
Get your head in the right place and hey, you’re complete!

In my quest for mathematical motivation formula – henceforth dubbed Mathavation (Google didn’t find such term, which means that I invented it), it’s good to have some assumptions and constants (the only constant is change?). So here’s another piece, of the overall integrated mathavation – there are ups and downs…

I like last two of your writings.
Is it possible to co-blog here?
I also have some doubts about what I am doing… I started thinking about it recently. I meet a lot of different people, with different education level, and different capability. And all the time I am telling them about looking at the perspective and possibilities from different angle. Some are capable to change sth, to get better job, but there also some people whom I just make life harder. They start to think more about money, while previously they were thinking about other perspectives(not career or money). My intention is to show people that there is alll the time way to progress, but the result sometimes comes out to be different.
I decided to talk less…

I think that on a personal level it’s easier to talk only about facts, and leave inspiration, motivation and other ideas aside. If people are interested in ideas, they will search by themsleves or ask someone. This is a great way to escape a feeling of responsibility for other peoples’ decisions (to change jobs or other things).
However, I believe that grown up people are responsible for their own life, and one should carefully motivate and encourage others.
